Welcome to Videri Australia, where care feels like home
Doing Dementia Differently
Who is Videri Australia?
At Videri Australia, we’re doing dementia differently. Our vision is a world where people living with dementia and their families are seen and can flourish. Videri means ‘to be seen’, and this reflects our belief in looking beyond a diagnosis, to seeing a person living with dementia for who they are and what is possible. This philosophy extends to everything we do, from creating small, authentic homes that feel like actual homes, to providing high-touch care for our residents, and putting our arms around the people who love them too.
Our homes are nestled within local communities, each supporting just 6 to 10 residents and providing 24/7 permanent and flexible respite care, meaningful connection and daily opportunities to thrive – all shaped by each person’s unique life story.
We look forward to meeting you where you are at on your journey, learning more and walking alongside you and your family to help you continue your vibrant life.

The Videri Way
At Videri Australia, we are doing dementia differently. We see past the diagnosis and into discovery. We see past the problems and into potential. We call this The Videri Way.
We See It Differently
We take a strengths and capability led approach, to understand the vibrant life that has been lived, so that we may help it to continue. We find what’s strong and what brings joy. It is not just about slowing loss and supporting survival, it’s about unlocking life.
Feels like Home
Our homes are real homes, nestled in local communities and designed as normal, familiar and forgiving environments. We curate each home to people’s stories, creating real connection in spaces they find familiar and where they can feel safe, known, and like they belong.
Flourishing Together
We understand that dementia impacts everyone – so we involve everyone. Our care and support goes beyond the individual to include the whole family. We help family members and support partners to move beyond coping just as individuals, to flourishing together.
The Videri Standard
We’re not just trying to do dementia care better; we are rethinking it entirely. We are recognised as leaders in our field because we go beyond. We step in, where others step out, providing not just care, but connection. It’s a passion-led approach that applies to everything we do.
High-touch Dementia Care
Each of our homes has a smaller number of residents so that we can provide consistent, high-touch support. There is a dedicated team in each home, who get to know each resident over time. It’s about building lasting trust with residents, families and their clinicians.
Honouring Individuality
Some days are joyful, others are difficult, and all are worth showing up for. We strive to create inclusive, expressive environments where people feel safe and accepted. We walk to the beat of the person’s drum, not the other way around. It’s about belonging.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude to every member of the team, who has cared for Sara. In a world where she has often been misunderstood, labelled, or felt like she didn’t fit – too young for certain spaces, too different for others – you embraced her just as she is. You have always treated Sara with kindness, understanding and acceptance.
Thank you for seeing her, accepting her, and caring for her with such compassion. Thank you for being patient, forgiving, and for making her feel valued every step of the way. You have been incredibly generous to our family, and for that, we will be forever grateful.”
– Matt, Bec and Megan
Helpful reading, when you're ready
Take a moment. When you feel ready, we’ve gathered thoughtful notes and real answers to questions we’re often asked, designed to support you through each step.
Why did you change your name from Group Homes Australia to Videri Australia?
While Group Homes Australia was a good, functional description of our small household model of care, it fell short of capturing our philosophy. Videri in Latin means ‘to be seen’. It reflects our belief in looking beyond a diagnosis to see the person living with dementia, and their family, for who they are and what’s possible.
Whilst we specialise in small, familiar homes for 6-10 residents that look, feel and function like real homes it is only a part of what we bring to a person living with dementia. Our team mission is to create a world where people living with dementia are seen and can thrive. We take time to step into each person’s life story to explore what brings them purpose and meaning. Our highly trained team members take a strengths-based, high-touch approach to seek out what brings joy, what is strong, and what can unlock a vibrant life still to be lived.
When is the right time to consider ‘moving in’ to receive dementia care?
It is different for everybody, and a decision only you can make, with the help of your family, friends, and trusted advisors and clinicians. When you are ready to find out more, we can help provide the information you need. Our team is equipped to answer any questions, from explaining how moving into full-time care works – whether it is for a short stay or longer-term permanent stay – to what the next steps would be. Wherever you are on your journey, you can reach us at 1300 015 406 or through the contact form below.
What makes Videri Australia different from dementia-specific aged care facilities?
Recently referred to by industry and medical leaders as ‘the gold standard of dementia care’, our Videri Australia homes draw on best-practice international models that we have adapted to the Australian environment and lifestyle.
Whilst we are not a traditional residential aged care facility or regular nursing home, you can move in to stay with us for 24/7 support and care when the time is right for you. Whether it be for respite or for permanent ongoing care in a dementia.home
We specialise in small, familiar homes for 6-10 residents that look, feel and function like real homes. This model aligns with the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines, as well as recommendations from the Royal Commission, which have recognised the superior health outcomes linked with smaller, more personalised environments for people living with dementia.
People who live with us follow their own routine. They are actively involved in daily life, while being supported by trained team members, called Homemakers, who are onsite 24 hours per day, as well as being supported throughout the week by our Resident Care teams.
Do you support people living with younger onset dementia?
We welcome people under 65 who are living with dementia, including those diagnosed with younger onset dementia. Many of our residents have been diagnosed in their 40s, 50s or early 60s, and our care team has deep experience supporting this younger cohort.
We understand that younger onset dementia can affect families at a stage of life that’s already full – careers, children, and the everyday demands of home. For many, it means seeing changes in a parent far earlier than expected or navigating the shift in a partner’s role within the family. The emotional and practical impact is significant and different from later-onset dementia.
That’s why our Social Workers work closely with families living with younger onset, offering support that goes beyond clinical care. Whether it’s helping to adjust to a new diagnosis, navigating NDIS, or simply being there to talk through how to adjust with the changes.
If you are registered with the NDIS, we recommend exploring an application for SIL Funding. This should cover most if not all your Videri Care Fees, leaving a smaller portion of out-of-pocket (accommodation and board) to be covered by you. Our Family Enquiry Team can work with you on how to fund your stay with us and can recommend a good Support Coordinator and Plan Manager, should you need one.
Does Videri Australia deliver traditional aged care services?
We offer a lot of the same services that traditional aged care offers; however, we do it a little differently. Here are some examples:
The power of normal
Our demantia homes are just that – real homes, embedded in local neighbourhoods. Not tucked away in aged care campuses or dementia-specific facilities. Because people like to live in regular, ordinary places, even with extraordinary needs.
We focus on what is strong, not what’s wrong
Our care model is built around strengths, not deficits. We support people to continue doing what they can do, with meaning and purpose.
Living, not just existing
Daily life here is filled with meaning – social connection, conversation, shared meals, outings, gardening, music, or whatever brings joy. It’s not about schedules; it’s about a vibrant life still to be lived.
Family aren’t ‘visitors’ – they are a part of our home
Families aren’t managed – they’re welcomed. There are no set visiting hours. We encourage families to stay involved in the rhythm of daily life, just as they normally would if they were still at home.
Real care, always close by
There’s always someone awake, present, and nearby. Our Homemakers provide hands-on, 24/7 care, backed by daily clinical and social work visits. No distant nurse stations or call bells.
Support that grows with you
Care evolves as needed. We don’t over-medicalise. We provide medical equipment only when it is needed.
Food that feels like home
Our ‘Food and Mood’ program is personalised for every resident. We cook the meals people actually love to eat – because food should comfort, nourish, and connect.
No bureaucracy, just care
No ACAT required. No waiting lists or long assessments. Just a simple, supportive admissions process that gets care started when it’s needed most.
We are not ready for care, but we do need some guidance – can you help?
Absolutely. Videri Australia offers different ways to support people living with dementia and their families at every stage – not just when it’s time for care.
If you are looking to learn a bit more about dementia, we hold monthly Dementia Education Workshops where you can join us.
If you have recently received a diagnosis of dementia, attending one of our free, government grant funded Rementia Together Retreats can give you tools and strategies for continuing life at home with confidence.
When the time feels right, you might want to try Flexible Respite in one of our homes. There’s no wait list and flexible short stay options, so that you can stay as little or as long as you like. And if full-time permanent care options are ever needed, we’ll be here to help you make that transition, too, with permanent care options in our homes providing 24/7 support.
Do you have specialist dementia care programs?
Some people living with dementia experience symptoms that are more complex – changes in behaviour, communication, or emotional wellbeing – that can make everyday life a lot more challenging. Our specialised dementia care expertise is designed to provide the extra support, structure, and environment that people in these situations may need.
We have a skilled, multidisciplinary team trained in dementia-specific approaches, including trauma-informed practice and behaviour support. We take time to understand what might be driving a person’s responses, whether it is unmet needs, pain, or environmental triggers, and we respond in ways that are respectful, calming, and supportive.
Our aim is always to reduce distress, promote choice and create a setting where each person can feel seen, understood, and valued. Families are included in every step, and we recognise the importance of familiar relationships, routines and communication – even as needs change.
Our specialised expertise is especially important for people whose needs may not be well supported in mainstream care environments. Here, we can tailor the right mix of structure and flexibility to help the person live as well as possible, every day.
What funding options are available to help cover the cost of care?
We are an Australian owned, private model of care with a daily fee that covers Care, Accommodation and Board.
You can fund your daily fee in several ways, as follows:
- We are classed as a Support at Home provider, so if you are over 65yrs old, you may be eligible for Government funding to help subsidise the cost of your care. From 1 November 2025 the Home Care Package (HCP) transitions to the new Support at Home program. Similarly to HCP, the Support at Home program allows you to put Government subsidies towards your Daily Care Fee with Videri. You can read more about the program on the Government’s website and how Support at Home funding can be used in our Support at Home Explainer. For Flexible Respite short stay you can use your Support at Home Unspent Funds to cover all or part of your stay.
- We are also an approved NDIS provider. If you are under 65yrs old, and have NDIS Funding, you can use SIL funding to cover all or part of your Care Fee* or your Short-Term Accommodation funding for flexible respite care. *SIL only applies to your Daily Care Fee, there is an additional out of pocket for your Accommodation and Board.
- We are a private-pay model, so if you are self-funded you can pay your Daily Fee privately.
Who is eligible for dementia aged care & dementia specific nursing home?
Our dementia nursing homes are designed specifically for people living with dementia, though we also support individuals living with other disabilities or Acquired Brain Injuries as well. Eligibility for dementia care at Videri Australia is determined by an assessment process with our Social Worker and Registered Nurse teams, and based on availability in our homes. You won’t need an external assessment to access care with us, however you may need one if you want to access external funding.
Some government funding can be used to offset our fees, such as a Support at Home program (previously Home Care Package) or the NDIS. Eligibility for this dementia aged care funding and other services is determined by NDIS Plan Managers and the ACAT assessment team.

The level of care is determined by individual needs, and can include assistance with daily activities, personalised dementia care plans, 24-hour support from our team of trained Homemakers, clinical care, enriching social engagement and activities – and much more. We also offer a range of resources and support services, including dementia education to help families provide the best care and support to their loved ones.
How does Videri Australia support residents to live independent daily lives?
Unlike traditional dementia specific aged care facilities, we create an environment that looks, feels and functions like a real home, with individual routines and meaningful engagement that bring our residents comfort and purpose.
Here are just some of the ways our home environments and person-centered care approach help residents live enriched, vibrant lives by addressing their individual needs:
- Personalised Care: We take a passions-led approach, creating individualised Flourishing Plans that are built to cater to each resident’s preferences, personality, needs and passions.
- Meaningful Engagement: From cooking to gardening and social events, residents are encouraged to take part in everyday life at home, promoting a sense of dignity, purpose and community.
- Flexible Routines: We respect personal rhythms and schedules, whether it’s sleeping in, eating early, or socialising often, our residents take every day and engage in activities at their own pace.
This model ensures that those living with dementia experience a fulfilling and dignified daily life.
Do you assist people with complex care needs?
Yes. Everyone experiences dementia differently, and we provide personalised, tailored dementia care and support for wherever you are in your journey – from early stages through to complex care, palliative care and end of life care. Our team is trained to adapt care plans as needs change, always prioritising comfort, dignity and connection.
How do you support couples when one or both partners need dementia care?
Many families wonder what happens when one partner needs dementia specific care, but the other does not. At Videri Australia, we understand how important it is for couples to stay connected. Our homes are built to provide a warm and inclusive environment, accommodating flexible needs so that loved ones can remain involved in each other’s lives, wherever they are in their journey.
- Living Together: Yes, we welcome couples in our homes where they can continue living together, with our support. They can either share a large room and ensuite, or have two rooms, with a shared bathroom between them. If both partners require support, we can assess options and tailor a care approach that meets their individual needs, together.
- Staying Connected: If one partner needs care in our homes, we encourage and welcome regular visits, shared meals, participation in daily activities and time spent together to maintain their strong connection.
- Flexible Support: We offer tailored care plans that can adapt as needs change, always ensuring that both individuals receive the right level of support.
Videri Australia’s approach to dementia caring is built on relationships, and we work closely with families to create the best possible environment for loved ones to stay connected.
How do you support families of residents?
We know that a dementia diagnosis affects everyone, so we involve everyone. Our approach to care goes beyond the individual, to wrapping our arms around those who love them, too. We offer:
- Regular Updates: We keep families informed about their loved one’s wellbeing and activities via group WhatsApp messages, phone check-ins and contact with our Social Workers and Registered Nurses.
- Support Groups: Providing caregiver resources and forums for families to share experiences and gain support, our tailored approach to care helps both you and your loved one feel seen, supported, and able to move beyond just coping as individuals, to flourishing together.
- Educational Resources: We offer information to help families better understand dementia, and help develop effective strategies for caring for someone with dementia. We also host regular, free, Demystifying Dementia workshops.
This support network ensures that families feel connected and empowered throughout their loved one’s dementia aged care journey.
