Permanent Care

A new chapter of caring, with the right team by your side

When it's time for permanent care

Deciding to move into ongoing permanent care is never easy. It often comes after weeks, months, sometimes years of doing everything possible to keep things familiar and comfortable at home. But as dementia progresses, so do the care needs, and there may come a point when more consistent, 24/7 support is needed.

This isn’t giving up. It’s a new chapter in caring, one where you now have a team to help you both move forward.

We understand that this is a deeply personal decision, often made with a heavy heart. Our team is here to walk alongside you through the transition. We take time to get to know the person, their life story, the likes and dislikes – so that moving into one of our Videri homes feels like a continuation, not a break, from the life you know.

Families remain at the heart of the care journey. We work closely with you to ensure the move is as smooth and respectful as possible with plenty of space held for connection, comfort, and reassurance along the way.

Reach out to us for a private conversation to discuss your thoughts on ongoing care.

What’s included in our ongoing Permanent Care

  • Round-the-clock support – 24/7 supervision and care from our dedicated team
  • Nutritious meals and meaningful activities – all thoughtfully planned to support wellbeing, routine and enjoyment.
  • Everyday and clinical care – from personal care and housekeeping to clinical nursing, provided by our Homemakers and Registered Nurses
  • Comprehensive health support – regular visits from local GPs and Allied Health professionals help ensure each person’s health needs are well managed
  • Emotional support for the whole family – our in-house Social Workers are here to support both residents and families through every stage of the journey
  • Flexible and independent model – we welcome self-funded residents, as well as those with Support at Home funding (previously Home Care Packages) or NDIS. There are no upfront RADs or ACAT assessments required — just a simple daily fee. Our team can walk you through what’s involved.

Our funding options

We are an Australian owned, private model of care with a daily fee that covers Care, Accommodation and Board. You can fund your daily fee in several ways, as follows:

Support at Home (previously Home Care Package): We are classed as a Support at Home Provider, so if you are over 65yrs old, you may be eligible for Government funding to help subsidise the cost of your care. From 1 November 2025 the Home Care Package (HCP) transitions to the new Support at Home program. Similarly to HCP, the Support at Home program allows you to put Government subsidies towards your Daily Care Fee with Videri. You can read more about the program on the Government’s website and how Support at Home funding can be used in our Support at Home Explainer.  For Flexible Respite short stay you can use your Support at Home Unspent Funds to cover all or part of your stay.

NDIS Funding: We are also an approved NDIS provider. If you are under 65yrs old, and have NDIS Funding, you can use SIL funding to cover all or part of your Care Fee* or your Short-Term Accommodation funding for flexible respite care. *SIL only applies to your Daily Care Fee, there is an additional out of pocket for your Accommodation and Board.

Private Pay: We are a private-pay model, so if you are self-funded you can pay your Daily Fee privately.

Helpful reading, when you're ready

Take a moment. When you feel ready, we’ve gathered thoughtful notes and real answers to questions we’re often asked, designed to support you through each step.

Everybody’s journey is different, so the time that they should receive ongoing permanent residential care can vary greatly. It all depends on how a person’s dementia progresses and the level of support they need from day to day, as well as how their primary carer may be coping at home.

It’s important to try and include your loved one living with dementia in this decision. This can involve a conversation early on, after diagnosis.

Videri Australia offers different options for support and dementia care in Sydney.

After diagnosis, attending one of our Rementia Together Retreats can give you tools and strategies for living at home with a diagnosis of dementia. When the time comes, it may be beneficial to try respite care in one of our homes. We offer Flexible Respite options so that you can stay for as little or as long as you like. Flexible Respite is a great way to trial us for permanent care down the track.

We are an Australian owned, private model of care with a daily fee that covers Care, Accommodation and Board.

Our all-inclusive daily rate starts from $680 per day, and you can use your Support at Home funding (previously Home Care Package subsidy) or NDIS funding to help cover the cost. We’re happy to chat through how this works and help you understand what’s possible with your funding.

The daily rate covers:

  • Accommodation – an elegant, fully functioning home nestled within local communities, where residents have their own private bedroom
  • 24/7 care and support – including the highest standard of personal care, clinical support, laundry, cleaning and engagement activities provided by Homemakers and Resident Care Team who know our residents well
  • Nutritious meals – cooked and served from the kitchen, catering to individual dietary requirements and preferences
  • Family support – regular updates and so that families feel supported and informed about their loved one’s wellbeing

The daily fee will depend on your individual care needs, room type and location.

Because we are not a residential aged care facility, our model does not require a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD).

When considering care options, we encourage you to research and compare the full range of costs associated with other care types such as in-home care and/or residential aged care.

Given our costs are all inclusive, it can sometimes be challenging to do a direct comparison with in-home or institutional models but we are happy to talk it through with you and help you to understand the differences.

If you would like to discuss individual care requirements and receive a tailored estimate, please contact us on 1300 015 406.  We’re here to assist you in navigating your funding options and finding the best fit for your needs.

An initial assessment with one of our Social Workers and Registered Nurses will take place in your own home – or wherever you are at the time. The purpose of the assessment is to build a relationship with you, learn the life story, what brings joy, what doesn’t … and we try to learn as much about the family circle as well. This creates a roadmap of what makes a person unique, whilst also providing us with an understanding of care needs so that we can select the best home for you.

We pride ourselves on being one of the very rare dementia care organisations, offering residential care for people with dementia, regardless of their age.

We welcome people under 65 who are living with dementia, including those diagnosed with younger onset dementia. Many of our residents have been diagnosed in their 40s, 50s or early 60s, and our care team has deep experience supporting this younger cohort.

We understand that younger onset dementia can affect families at a stage of life that’s already full – careers, children, and the everyday demands of home. For many, it means seeing changes in a parent far earlier than expected or navigating the shift in a partner’s role within the family. The emotional and practical impact is significant and different from later-onset dementia.

That’s why our Social Workers work closely with families living with younger onset, offering support that goes beyond clinical care. Whether it’s helping to adjust to a new diagnosis, navigating NDIS, or simply being there to talk through how to adjust with the changes.

If you are registered with the NDIS, we recommend exploring an application for SIL Funding. This should cover most if not all your Videri Care Fees, leaving a smaller portion of out-of-pocket (accommodation and board) to be covered by you. Our Family Enquiry Team can work with you on how to fund your stay with us and can recommend a good Support Coordinator and Plan Manager, should you need one.

Some people living with dementia experience symptoms that are more complex – changes in behaviour, communication, or emotional wellbeing – that can make everyday life a lot more challenging. Our specialised dementia care expertise is designed to provide the extra support, structure, and environment that people in these situations may need.

We have a skilled, multidisciplinary team trained in dementia-specific approaches, including trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support. We take time to understand what might be driving a person’s responses, whether it is unmet needs, pain, or environmental triggers, and we respond in ways that are respectful, calming, and supportive.

Our aim is always to reduce distress, promote choice and create a setting where each person can feel seen, understood, and valued. Families are included in every step, and we recognise the importance of familiar relationships, routines and communication – even as needs change.

Our specialised expertise is especially important for people whose needs may not be well supported in mainstream care environments. Here, we can tailor the right mix of structure and flexibility to help the person live as well as possible, every day.

Whilst we are not a traditional residential aged care facility or nursing home, you can move in to stay with us for 24/7 support and care – when the time is right.

We specialise in small, familiar homes for 6-10 residents that look, feel and function like real homes. This model aligns with the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines, as well as recommendations from the Royal Commission, which have recognised the superior health outcomes linked with smaller, more personalised environments for people living with dementia.

People who live with us follow their own routine. They are actively involved in daily life, while being supported by trained team members, called Homemakers, who are onsite 24 hours per day, as well as being supported throughout the week by our Resident Care teams.

Our Videri Australia homes draw on best-practice international models that we have adapted to the Australian environment and lifestyle.

We have the privilege of caring for people during one of the most vulnerable chapters of their life, holding space for them as they move through the changes that come with progressive cognitive decline. We have a skilled, multidisciplinary team trained in dementia-specific approaches, including trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support. Our expertise is especially important for people whose needs may not be well supported in mainstream traditional aged care environments.

We support people with a range of conditions, including:

  • Younger onset dementia
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Vascular dementia
  • Lewy body disease
  • Frontotemporal dementia
  • Parkinson’s-related dementia

We also provide care for individuals living with complex neurological conditions such as:

  • Motor neurone disease (MND) / amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
  • Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)
  • Stroke

Because we are real homes, with a familiar setting and regular daily activities, it doesn’t take as long as you might expect. Each person settles in at their own pace but generally pretty quickly. The success of the first few weeks really depends on the strength of the partnership between the resident, family and the Homemakers. The more information we have about you and your life story the better chance we have of getting everyone off to a good start.

We are supported by visiting GPs who visits our homes regularly. Our primary focus is to bring any medical support that our residents need into the home. From a resident’s perspective, the need to go to hospital can be a confusing and difficult experience.  If additional services are needed, we endeavour to bring in the necessary resources to support our residents in their familiar environment. Mobile X-ray, mobile dentist, and Hospital in the Home are examples of some of our key relationships and services, if required.

We have the privilege of caring for people during one of the most vulnerable chapters of their life, walking alongside them as they move through the changes that dementia brings. As care needs shift and the journey approaches end-of-life, it becomes an even deeper honour for our team to be there, holding space for both the individual and their family, right through to the final moments.

This is where our care becomes something more. We serve not just with skill, but with heart.

Yes. We are a registered NDIS and SIL provider. If you’re caring for someone with dementia, such as a family member, we can help them navigate the NDIS and ensure they get adequate support and resources. Whether it’s long-term care, improving safety features, assisting with communication skills or assisting with any of the many challenges a person with dementia might face, our team ensure you get the support you need as per your NDIS budget and plan.

Videri Australia group homes are an alternative to traditional aged care facilities and dementia-specific nursing homes. We are Sydney-based, with residential care homes in the Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, North Shore, Hill District, Sutherland Shire and Inner West communities, with more specialist dementia care homes coming soon to Victoria and Queensland.

Yes. We accept residents who are younger than 65 years old and who are living with high-care needs. We pride ourselves on being one of the more unique support organisations, offering residential care for people with dementia, regardless of their age.

No. While many of our residents are living with dementia, we can also care for people with high care needs including cancer, brain tumours, motor neuron disease, mental health, terminal illness, Parkinson’s disease and acquired brain injuries (ABI). Our carers are skilled in looking after residents with a range of conditions.

Yes, we offer Flexible Respite care for people living with dementia.

Respite care gives families, caregivers and people living with dementia the chance to take a break, reset, and plan for the future. It means caregivers can take a break without guilt, knowing their loved ones are receiving the highest level of care.

Our respite offering is a little different to others. For most, there is a set time period that you need to stick to – or there’s a waiting list. With us, stay for as little or as long as you need, book as often as you want. We have rooms reserved across our 23 homes for respite, so we usually have good availability.

It is good to have open and early discussions about short stay respite. After diagnosis, attending one of our Rementia Together Retreats can give you tools and strategies for living well at home with a diagnosis of dementia and at the same time, introduce you both to the idea of respite and its importance – for you both.
