Permanent Care With Us

If you are interested in our model of care, we would be more than happy to have a chat with you about how our permanent care works. By understanding the life story, likes and dislikes of the person you care for, we can explain how Videri Australia can best meet their needs.  Call us on 1300 015 406 or send us an Enquiry via the form on this page.

Accommodation Planning

When considering care, it is important to spend time looking at the options that are out there. We often recommend a Life Planning Service or an Aged Care Navigator who can simplify the process for you and shortlist your accommodation options based on your individual brief. We can suggest some planners to try if you would like to explore this.

Finance and Estate Planning

If you are the one charged with making the care and finance decisions at a later stage, it is vital to ensure that you have the correct documentation in place, for instance Power of Attorney and the Enduring Guardianship. And Advanced Care Directive will also be needed.

Flexible Respite Care with us

A great way to trial moving into care is with Flexible Respite that provides 24/7 care for as little or as long as you need. It can provide you, the carer, with an opportunity to pause and reset. It’s also a great option if your loved one has a hospital visit and needs to transition slowly back home.

Dementia Wellbeing Workshops

Our free monthly workshops are for those who are supporting someone living with dementia. Whilst it is basic educational content, the session does touch on moving into care and how to navigate the transition process as well as how to accept the move when it happens.

Dementia is a condition most commonly associated with older Australians

“If you knew how much research I did to find the right option for my mother… finding Tamar and Videri – it was like finding a gold nugget. There was a moment when I realised, I just couldn’t do it anymore. Working while trying to care for my mother was taking its toll. When I found Videri the relief was overwhelming. I’m in awe of everything that Tamar and Videri Australia have done for my mum. Tamar, the Homemakers and the other Videri families have become family to my mother, and to me. I can now see her and spend time with her, knowing how well she is looked after in between my visits. This is the model of care that Australia needs.”

Helpful reading, when you're ready

Take a moment. When you feel ready, we’ve gathered thoughtful notes and real answers to questions we’re often asked, designed to support you through each step.

Everybody’s journey is different, so the time that they should receive ongoing permanent care can vary greatly. It all depends on how a person’s dementia progresses and the level of support they need from day to day, as well as how their primary carer may be coping at home.

It’s important to try and include your loved one living with dementia in this decision. This can involve a conversation early on, after diagnosis.

Videri Australia offers different options for support and dementia care in Sydney.

After diagnosis, attending one of our Rementia Together Retreats can give you tools and strategies for living at home with a diagnosis of dementia. When the time comes, it may be beneficial to try respite care in one of our homes. We offer Flexible Respite options so that you can stay for as little or as long as you like. Flexible Respite is a great way to trial us for permanent care down the track.

We are an Australian owned, private model of care with a daily fee that covers Care, Accommodation and Board.

You can fund your daily fee in several ways, as follows:

  1. We are classed as a Support at Home provider, so if you are over 65yrs old, you may be eligible for Government funding to help subsidise the cost of your care. From 1 November 2025 the Home Care Package (HCP) transitions to the new Support at Home program. Similarly to HCP, the Support at Home program  allows you to put Government subsidies towards your Daily Care Fee with Videri. You can read more about the program on the Government’s website and how Support at Home funding can be used in our Support at Home Explainer.  For Flexible Respite short stay you can use your Support at Home Unspent Funds to cover all or part of your stay.
  2. We are also an approved NDIS provider. If you are under 65yrs old, and have NDIS Funding, you can use SIL funding to cover all or part of your Care Fee* or your Short-Term Accommodation funding for flexible respite care. *SIL only applies to your Daily Care Fee, there is an additional out of pocket for your Accommodation and Board.
  3. We are a private-pay model, so if you are self-funded you can pay your Daily Fee privately.

We welcome people under 65 who are living with dementia, including those diagnosed with younger onset dementia. Many of our residents have been diagnosed in their 40s, 50s or early 60s, and our care team has deep experience supporting this younger cohort.

We understand that younger onset dementia can affect families at a stage of life that’s already full – careers, children, and the everyday demands of home. For many, it means seeing changes in a parent far earlier than expected or navigating the shift in a partner’s role within the family. The emotional and practical impact is significant and different from later-onset dementia.

That’s why our Social Workers work closely with families living with younger onset, offering support that goes beyond clinical care. Whether it’s helping to adjust to a new diagnosis, navigating NDIS, or simply being there to talk through how to adjust with the changes.

If you are registered with the NDIS, we recommend exploring an application for SIL Funding. This should cover most if not all your Videri Care Fees, leaving a smaller portion of out-of-pocket (accommodation and board) to be covered by you. Our Family Enquiry Team can work with you on how to fund your stay with us and can recommend a good Support Coordinator and Plan Manager, should you need one.

Some people living with dementia experience symptoms that are more complex – changes in behaviour, communication, or emotional wellbeing – that can make everyday life a lot more challenging. Our specialised dementia care expertise is designed to provide the extra support, structure, and environment that people in these situations may need.

We have a skilled, multidisciplinary team trained in dementia-specific approaches, including trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support. We take time to understand what might be driving a person’s responses, whether it is unmet needs, pain, or environmental triggers, and we respond in ways that are respectful, calming, and supportive.

Our aim is always to reduce distress, promote choice and create a setting where each person can feel seen, understood, and valued. Families are included in every step, and we recognise the importance of familiar relationships, routines and communication – even as needs change.

Our specialised expertise is especially important for people whose needs may not be well supported in mainstream care environments. Here, we can tailor the right mix of structure and flexibility to help the person live as well as possible, every day.

Whilst we are not a traditional residential aged care facility or nursing home, you can move in to stay with us for 24/7 support and care – when the time is right.

We specialise in small, familiar homes for 6-10 residents that look, feel and function like real homes. This model aligns with the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines, as well as recommendations from the Royal Commission, which have recognised the superior health outcomes linked with smaller, more personalised environments for people living with dementia.

People who live with us follow their own routine. They are actively involved in daily life, while being supported by trained team members, called Homemakers, who are onsite 24 hours per day, as well as being supported throughout the week by our Resident Care teams.

Our Videri Australia homes draw on best-practice international models that we have adapted to the Australian environment and lifestyle.

We have the privilege of caring for people during one of the most vulnerable chapters of their life, holding space for them as they move through the changes that come with progressive cognitive decline. We have a skilled, multidisciplinary team trained in dementia-specific approaches, including trauma-informed practice, and behaviour support. Our expertise is especially important for people whose needs may not be well supported in mainstream traditional aged care environments. We support people with a range of conditions, including:
  • Younger onset dementia
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Vascular dementia
  • Lewy body disease
  • Frontotemporal dementia
  • Parkinson’s-related dementia
We also provide care for individuals living with complex neurological conditions such as:
  • Motor neurone disease (MND) / amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome
  • Traumatic brain injury (TBI)
  • Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)
  • Stroke
If you are living with any of these conditions, we understand how difficult it can be. We are ready to be the team by your side – when the time is right. Let’s talk – call us on 1300 015 406.
